Exterior Painting Construction Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly remove dirt and moss from the exterior walls using high-pressure washing! If dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. We also wash the exterior structures, floors, and inside the rain gutters as well.

2. Surface Preparation

After the high-pressure washing is complete, we perform surface preparation such as crack repairs while checking the condition of the exterior walls!

3. Masking

Next, we use masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer sheeting to mask off areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors. This is a very important task in the painting process!

If masking is neglected, gaps can form, allowing paint to seep in or preventing clean lines from being achieved.

4. Intermediate Coating

This is a very important process to bring out the performance of the paint, to achieve a beautiful finish, and to eliminate unevenness!

This time it will be a clear coating, so unlike regular exterior wall painting, we will only apply the finishing paint twice without a primer step.

5. Top Coating

Next is the top coating. This will be the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will be mindful to ensure there are no uneven areas or missed spots, resulting in a beautiful finish! The paint used is Kikusuikagaku Kogyo / Royal Ceraclear. This is a clear paint that is compatible with photocatalytic siding (difficult-to-adhere siding).

6. Painting of Auxiliary Parts (Rain Gutter, Eaves, Fascia, Soffit, Water Cut, Slim Duct)

After finishing the surface preparation such as scraping for the

attached parts, for iron parts, we apply a rust preventive primer, then use Lock Paint / Yumelock for the intermediate and top coats. We ensure to paint every detail thoroughly!

For the eaves, we used Nippon Paint / Water-based Ken Ace.

Additionally, the slim duct is disassembled for painting to avoid sticking. By detaching and painting, we can thoroughly paint the exterior wall beneath the slim duct as well!

Joint Replacement Work Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Sealant

We will remove the existing sealing material using a cutter or similar tool. This is referred to as sealing, caulking, or jointing. It is a crucial area that can easily lead to water leaks and cause cracking or lifting of the siding. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration!

2. Masking Tape Application

Confirm the position for applying the tape and carefully apply it to avoid embedding it into the surface.

3. Primer Application

Apply the primer with a brush or similar tool, ensuring there are no missed spots. The product used is Auto Chemical Industry / High-Performance Urethane Primer.

4. Filling with Sealing Material

Next, we will apply the sealing. This time, we used Auto Chemical Industry / Auton Exceed. Auton Exceed is a highly durable sealing material with a lifespan of about 30 years. It offers nearly three times the durability of urethane and silicone-based materials!

Auto Chemical Industry / Auton Exceed takes time to cure, so when performing exterior wall painting after sealing work, you must wait several days until it has fully cured.

5. Finishing with a Trowel

Using a trowel that matches the joint width, press firmly and finish smoothly.

6. Removal of Masking Tape & Completion

After finishing, remove the masking tape to complete the joint sealing work.

That concludes the process.

Normally, exterior wall painting is done after replacing the joints, but you must not apply Kikusui Chemical Industry / Royal Ceraclear on the replaced joints, so we performed the joint replacement after painting. The process varies depending on the materials used, and knowledge is essential!

If the exterior wall is siding, it is common to carry out joint replacement and exterior wall painting together, so caution is necessary!

This time, we were able to finish beautifully without any issues!
