Balcony Waterproofing Construction Procedure

1. High Pressure Washing

First, we will clean the surface with high pressure washing! We will be careful as excessive pressure can damage the existing waterproof layer. Any obstacles to the waterproofing work, such as outdoor units, will be moved or lifted.

2. Substrate Treatment

Paint Film Lifting

There was a lifting of the coating film, so we removed it with a scraper and repaired it with a special urethane waterproofing repair material!

We will clean up dirt that cannot be removed by washing. This is an important process to enhance the adhesion of the top coat.

3. Primer Application

The primer acts as an adhesive that promotes the adhesion of the waterproof layer and the top coat! The primer used is AGC Polymer Construction Materials/P-60. P-60 is an interlayer primer for urethane waterproofing and is specifically designed for renovations, unlike primers used for new installations.

4. Top Coat Application (Two Coats)

The top coat is generally applied in two layers!
After finishing the application, we check for any missed spots.

5. Cap Flashing Joint Sealing

We will seal the joints of the cap flashing! After masking with tape, we apply seal primer and inject the sealing material. Since the cap flashing is a common area for leaks, it is important to pay attention to the deterioration of the sealing!

6. Completion of Balcony Waterproofing Work

The work is complete once the balcony is dry! Return any moved items and outdoor units to their original places to finish!
