Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Dismantling Existing Ridge and Snow Stops

First, we will dismantle unnecessary parts for the overlay method (ridge flashing and snow stops)! The durability of wooden purlins is approximately 10 to 15 years. We will leave the ridge purlins intact!
Since cutting the snow stops with a rotary tool creates iron dust, we will cut them with a pair of bolt cutters.

2. Laying Roofing (Waterproof Sheet) and Fabrication of Accessories (Curlicue, Eaves, Valley)

Next, we will apply the waterproof sheet! The roofing material used is Tajima Roofing / Tadi Self Cover!
This adhesive roofing has high waterproof properties and a durability of about 30 years, which is close to the durability of Galtect.
This is a specialized roofing sheet suitable for the cover method of existing fragile slate materials like “Zarufugrassa.”
As a secondary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, it will generally not leak!
We will ensure it is firmly applied so that it does not get blown away by the wind.
Since there are various durability and characteristics of roofing sheets, it is important to choose a roofing sheet that matches the durability of the new roof and the roof slope!

Before the main roof construction, we will process and install accessories such as decorative eaves and valleys!
The accessories used are the genuine Galtect accessories made of SGL steel plate! The metal at the ridge is our original integrated waste board type ridge base. It has a durability of about 30 years and is a ridge base with high wind resistance.

3.Main Construction (Aiji Industrial / Super Galtect)

After processing the accessories, we will install the Galtect main body up to the ridge!
Once the installation reaches the ridge, we will install the necessary materials to secure the ridge flashing called “kanbai.” We offer three types of kanbai: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used the Galvalume ridge base as the customer requested high durability.

The Galvalume steel plate is expected to have three times the durability compared to cedar! Unlike resin and cedar, it does not crack, so it is safe!

5. Ridge Flashing Processing & Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge cap. We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joint. This time, we used Auton Chemical Industry’s Auton Exceed. Auton Exceed is a highly durable sealing material with a lifespan of about 30 years. It offers nearly three times the durability of urethane and silicone-based materials!!

At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain stop flashing.
We will use stainless steel screws that are resistant to rust for fastening!

6. Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to ensure it is clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aiji Giken.
Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty!
It is made of SGL steel plate, which is resistant to rust.
The insulation material is tightly adhered from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates steel and insulation.
During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a highly heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lightweight compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, making it a good earthquake countermeasure.
