This time, we would like to introduce the
interior renovation work at Kakeru Koumuten’s Machida store!
We removed the existing wallpaper and flooring, conducted drainage and cleaning under the floor, restructured the subfloor, and installed floor tiles, cushion flooring, and wallpaper.
At Kakeru Koumuten, we not only handle exterior renovations such as roofing and exterior wall painting but also interior renovations and repairs for interiors damaged by leaks.
Machida City, Tokyo | Steps for Store Interior Renovation
1. Wallpaper Removal & Floor Demolition
First, we will remove the existing wallpaper and dismantle the old flooring and subfloor!
In interior renovations, there are parts of the walls and floors that cannot be understood until they are dismantled.
Therefore, we will proceed with the removal work carefully while checking the condition of the substructure and plumbing.
2. Drainage and Cleaning Under the Floor
After dismantling the floor, it was confirmed that water had accumulated under the floor due to deterioration of the drainage pipes, causing leaks.
We will use a submersible pump to suck up the water accumulated under the floor and discharge it outdoors.
After drainage, we will clean under the floor and perform disinfection, deodorization, and drying treatment. We will ensure that no moisture or dirt is left behind, creating a condition that is less prone to mold, corrosion, and unpleasant odors.
3. Installation of the Subfloor
Once the drainage, cleaning, and drying of the underfloor are completed, we will install the subfloor to support the new flooring.
We will install metal supports under the floor and construct a wooden framework for the flooring on top of them.
By finely adjusting the height with the supports, we will ensure that the entire floor is level and stable!
What is a Steel Post?
It is a metal support installed under the floor to support the floor framework.
Since it can be adjusted in height, it is used to level the floor. Compared to wooden posts, it is less prone to rot and damage from termites.
4. Plywood Installation
Once the floor framework is complete, plywood is laid and fixed on top of it.
We securely fix the plywood to prevent any shifting or warping, enhancing the overall strength of the floor.
We check the seams and unevenness of the plywood, preparing a sturdy and flat subfloor that allows for a clean application of the finishing material!
5. Floor Tile Installation
We apply a special adhesive to the subfloor and carefully lay each floor tile one by one.
To prevent gaps or misalignment between the tiles, we check the position and orientation of the patterns during installation.
Finally, we ensure there are no warps or unevenness, finishing with a strong and beautiful floor!
What is Floor Tile?
Floor tiles are thin, tile-like flooring materials that are adhered to the floor one by one.
They are resistant to water and dirt, making them easy to maintain. Available in a variety of colors and patterns, such as wood grain, stone, and marble, they can be chosen to match the atmosphere of your room.
One of the advantages of floor tiles is that it is easy to replace only the damaged sections.
6. Cushion Floor (CF) Installation
This time, we will be installing cushion floor (CF) in the toilet!
First, we check the size of the floor and the shape around the toilet, and carefully cut the cushion floor to match the shape of the floor.
We apply a special adhesive to the subfloor and firmly press it down to prevent wrinkles, creases, and air pockets while sticking it down.
We adjust it to ensure there are no gaps along the walls or around the toilet, finishing with a clean and easy-to-maintain floor!
What is Cushion Floor (CF)?
Cushion floor is a sheet-type flooring material made of polyvinyl chloride.
It has moderate cushioning properties and is resistant to water and stains, making it commonly used in wet areas such as toilets, washrooms, and kitchens.
It comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns, is easy to maintain, and can be installed at a relatively low cost.
7. Wallpaper Installation
Finally, we will apply the new wallpaper!
Before applying the wallpaper, we fill in any holes, seams, and minor unevenness in the wall with putty to create a smooth surface.
By preparing the base properly before applying the wallpaper, we can minimize surface irregularities and achieve a beautiful finish.
We carefully install the wallpaper while checking the seams and pattern alignment to ensure there are no gaps or bubbles!
Completion of Store Interior Renovation
Construction Completed!
Before construction, the wallpaper and flooring were deteriorating, and there were puddles and unpleasant odors due to water leaks under the floor.
After performing drainage, cleaning, and drying treatment under the floor, we rebuilt the subfloor and installed new wallpaper, floor tiles, and cushion flooring.
Not only has the appearance improved, but the unpleasant odors from the water leaks have also been eliminated, resulting in a comfortable store that can be used with peace of mind!

Symptoms that require early inspection regardless of age

・Bad odors are coming from indoors or under the floor
・Water leaks are occurring in water-related areas
・Doors and windows are difficult to open and close

Points to Consider When Deciding on Renovation Timing
Changes in Family Structure and Lifestyle

Equipment Malfunctions
If your toilet, kitchen, bathroom, or air conditioning is not functioning well, consider repairs or replacements before a breakdown occurs.
Visible Dirt and Damage
