Procedure for Partial Replacement of Exterior Wall Siding

1. Removal of Equipment

We temporarily remove items that may obstruct the siding, such as rain gutters and air conditioning ducts.

2. Removal of Existing Siding

We will remove the existing siding and conduct internal inspections and repairs. The furring strips will also be removed.

3. Metal Work for Flashings

After installing the furring strips, we will process the metal work for the base water cutting and other flashings.

4. Main Construction

We will install the new main body.

5. Sealing at Various Locations

We will apply sealing to the joints. We used SR Seal H100 for the sealing material, which is a high-durability sealing material expected to last nearly 30 years.

Joint Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Sealing Material

We will remove the existing sealing material using a cutter or similar tool. This is referred to as sealing, caulking, or joints. It is prone to causing leaks and can lead to cracks or lifting in the siding, making it a critical area. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration!

2. Masking Tape Application

Check the position for applying the tape and carefully adhere it to avoid embedding into the surface.

3. Primer Application

Apply the primer with a brush or similar tool, ensuring there are no missed spots.

4. Filling with Sealing Material

Next, we will apply the sealing material. The sealing material used this time is from Sunrise Co., Ltd./SR Seal H100.

5. Finishing with a Trowel

Use a trowel that matches the joint width to press firmly and finish smoothly.

6. Removal of Masking Tape & Completion

After finishing, remove the masking tape, and the joint sealing work will be complete.

That concludes the process.

This time, we were able to finish beautifully without any issues!

Exterior Painting Work Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly remove dirt and moss from the exterior walls using high-pressure washing! If any dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. This time, we performed high-pressure washing using bio-cleaning.

2. Surface Preparation

After high-pressure washing, we will perform surface preparation such as crack repairs while checking the deterioration of the exterior walls!

3. Masking

Next, we will mask off areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks. This is a very important task in the painting work!

If masking is neglected, gaps can form, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

4. Primer Application

This is the initial painting process after high-pressure washing and substrate treatment, using a primer that ensures the middle and top coats adhere firmly to the surface. By applying the primer thoroughly, there is a significant difference in durability and finish! The primer we use also has substrate adjustment functions, which can seal fine cracks!
The paint used this time is Astec Paint / Fluor REVO1000-IR.

5. Middle Coat

This is a very important process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate uneven application!

For this exterior wall painting, we used two types of paint, and for the clear coating part, we only applied the finishing paint twice without a primer step.

6. Top Coat (2 times)

Next is the top coat. This is the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will focus on ensuring there are no uneven spots or missed areas, achieving a beautiful finish!
The paint used for the clear coating is Kikusui Chemical Industry / Royal Ceraclear. This is a clear paint that is compatible with photocatalytic siding (difficult-to-attach siding).

7. Painting of Accessory Parts (Water Cutters, Slim Ducts, Ventilation Ducts, Eaves, Nose Hiding, Soffit)

Water Cutters

Slim Duct

Ventilation Duct

Eaves

After finishing the surface preparation such as scraping for the

attached parts, if it is a metal part, we apply a rust preventive primer, followed by a mid-coat and top-coat using Premium Inorganic Mild. We make sure to paint even the smallest areas thoroughly!

Additionally, the slim duct is disassembled for painting to avoid sticking together. By detaching and painting, we can also thoroughly paint the exterior wall beneath the slim duct!

What are the Exterior Wall Cover Method and Exterior Wall Siding Replacement Work?

The exterior wall cover method involves overlaying a new exterior wall on top of the existing one.
It is possible to overlay various types of exterior walls such as ALC walls, ceramic siding, and mortar walls.

The exterior wall materials used in the cover method are generally lightweight and durable metal siding.

Although the costs are higher compared to exterior wall painting, it is a popular exterior renovation method with various benefits that has been gaining attention year by year.

The exterior wall siding replacement work involves removing the existing wall and installing new siding.

Depending on the existing exterior wall, there may be walls that cannot be replaced, but this method allows for checking internal deterioration and issues with the underlying structure, making maintenance possible at the time of replacement.
