Roof Overlay Construction Procedure
1. Removal of Existing Ridge Flashing and Snow Guards

It is made of modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
If the roofing is solid, it will not leak as it serves the role of primary waterproofing!

About Roofing Materials
The roofing material used is Aijii Industrial’s Super Galtect.
Super Galtect comes with a 15-year warranty on the coating and a 25-year warranty against perforation.
We also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal sheet that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with high heat insulation paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lighter compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and our construction records show that Aijii Industrial’s Super Galtect is the most frequently used and is highly regarded!

What is the Roof Overlay (Cover Method)?
The roof overlay method involves leaving the current roof almost intact and placing a new roof on top of it, effectively covering it.
Literally, it is a method of covering a roof with another roof. Therefore, the roof becomes double-layered. Since the roof is laid on top of the existing one, it is also referred to as “overlapping roofing.”
Advantages of the Overlay Method
Since a “new roof” is placed over the “current roof,” demolition work is almost unnecessary, meaning that very little waste is generated.
This is the biggest feature, leading to various advantages.
The only part that requires dismantling and waste disposal is the ridge cap, so compared to a full roof replacement, the cost is lower.
In 2004, regulations regarding the concentration of asbestos in raw materials were changed (for more details, please visit the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare website).
Some building materials used in structures built before 2004 contain asbestos. Because materials containing asbestos have a high environmental impact, dismantling them is also difficult, resulting in high costs for both dismantling and waste disposal. The roof overlay method, which generates almost no waste, is ideal for such roofs.
Some of you may wonder, “Is it safe to live in a building that uses materials containing asbestos?” but rest assured. As long as there is no destruction or crushing, it will not disperse into the air.

Additionally, the construction can be completed in a shorter time frame than painting or roof replacement. A shorter construction period means lower labor costs, which in turn makes the overall cost lower.

Joint Replacement Work Procedure
1. Removal of Existing Sealing Material
This is referred to as sealing, caulking, or joints. It is a critical area that can easily lead to leaks and cause cracking or lifting of the siding. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration!
2. Application of Masking Tape

That concludes the process.
Typically, exterior wall painting is done after replacing the joints, but in the case of Nippon Paint/UV Protect Clear, it should not be applied to the joints after replacement, so the joint replacement was done after painting. The process may vary depending on the materials, and knowledge is required!
If the exterior wall is siding, it is often the case that joint replacement and exterior wall painting are done together, so caution is necessary!
