We received the following inquiry from a customer residing in Kokubunji City.
“I am considering renovating the roof of my 22-year-old wooden two-story house.
The existing roofing material is slate (Nichiha Pamir). I would like to continue living here for at least another 20 years, but is it possible to receive proposals and estimates for roof replacement or the roof overlay method?”
Upon inspecting the site, we found that the existing roof was deteriorated but had no cracks, so we proposed the roof overlay method.
Since the customer desired highly durable roofing material, we recommended our most popular product, Super Galtect.

Roof Overlay Method – Construction Steps
1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops
Exceeding the durability period can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge cap coming loose or being blown away.
2. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)
We will securely attach this to prevent it from being blown away by the wind. Since there are various durability periods and characteristics for roofing sheets, it is important to choose a roofing sheet that matches the durability of the new roofing material and the roof slope!
3. Processing of Accessories (Karakusa, Keraba, Valley)
4. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial / Super Galtect)
The roofing material will be secured with stainless steel renovation screws!
We will install the necessary ridge substrate to secure the ridge cap. The batten boards we handle include three types: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used Galvalume steel.
Galvalume steel is expected to have three times the durability of cedar, and unlike resin or cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!
Our original integrated waste board type Galvalume steel ridge substrate is highly durable, has strong fixing power, and excellent wind resistance! Even if rainwater enters from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, demonstrating high waterproofing performance!
5. Ridge Cap Processing & Sealing at Various Locations
The screws used for fixing are rust-resistant stainless steel screws with washers!
Screws with washers are less likely to come out compared to nails, securely fixing the ridge cap to the purlin!
Although it is not visible after installation, by attaching a face plate inside the ridge cap, waterproofing is enhanced! This firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical part of the roof.
5. Cleaning
About the Roofing Material
The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry. The Super Galtect comes with a 15-year paint warranty and a 25-year hole warranty, and we also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is highly resistant to rust. The insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates steel and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a highly heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and warm winter experience. Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, which reduce the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lighter compared to other roofing materials, resulting in less sway during earthquakes, making it a good earthquake countermeasure. It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and our company has the most installations of Aijii Industry’s Super Galtect, which is receiving considerable attention!
