Roof Overlay Method – Construction Steps
1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops
The existing ridge base is made of cedar, which has a durability of about 10 to 15 years.
Once the durability period is exceeded, corrosion and discoloration can occur, leading to the detachment and scattering of the ridge cap.
2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)
Tadi Self Cover is an ideal roofing sheet for the cover method of fragile slate materials, such as non-asbestos roofing materials. It serves as a secondary waterproofing layer, and as long as the roofing is solid, it generally won’t leak!
We will securely adhere this to prevent it from being blown away by the wind. Since there are various durability periods and characteristics for roofing sheets, it is important to choose a roofing sheet that matches the durability of the new roofing material and the roof slope!
3. Accessory Processing (Kera, Karakusa, Valley)
The materials used for the accessories are made of galvalume steel!
We will install the necessary materials to secure the ridge cap. We offer three types of batten: cedar, resin, and galvalume steel, and this time we used the galvalume steel version!
Galvalume steel has an expected durability three times that of cedar! Unlike resin and cedar, it does not crack, so it is safe!
Our original integrated waste board made of Galvalume steel for the ridge base is,
highly durable, has strong fixing power, and excellent wind resistance!
Even if rainwater seeps in from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, providing
high waterproof performance!
4. Main Construction (Sekino Kousan / Dan Netsu Top)
5. Ridge Flashing Processing & Sealing at Various Locations
The screws used for fixing arerust-resistant stainless steel screws with washers!
Unlike nails, screws with washers are less likely to come loose and securely fix the ridge flashing to the purlin!
Although it is not visible after construction, installing a face plate on the inside of the ridge flashing enhances waterproofing! It firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical point of the roof.
5. Cleaning
About Roofing Materials
The roofing material used is Sekino Kousan’s Dan Netsu Top.
Dan Netsu Top is made of Galvalume steel, which offers excellent durability and comes with a manufacturer’s coating warranty! 15-year coating warranty and 25-year hole warranty are included!
While it looks very similar to Hirambi, Dan Netsu Top is equipped with polyethylene foam insulation!
Additionally, we provide a 10-year workmanship warranty!

It is lightweight and strong against earthquakes, making it an overwhelmingly lightweight and sturdy roofing material. It is also easy to install, which improves work efficiency.
Moreover, it has heat-insulating GL steel and insulation effects. With high corrosion-resistant GL steel and insulation material, it excels in thermal insulation, sound insulation, and strength.
