Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Removal of Solar Panels

First, we will remove the existing solar panels! This time, we will carefully remove them to reuse the existing solar panels.

The removed solar panels can be temporarily stored by our company.

2. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Guards

First, we will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method! The lifespan of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Exceeding the lifespan can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge flashing coming loose or being blown away.

3. Installation of Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will apply the waterproof sheet! The roofing material used is Tajima Roofing / Tadi Self Cover, which is highly durable and waterproof!

Tadi Self Cover is the ideal roofing sheet for covering fragile slates such as non-asbestos roofing materials. With the role of secondary waterproofing, if the roofing is properly installed, it generally won’t leak. We will secure it well to prevent it from being blown away by the wind.

Since there are various durability years and characteristics for roofing sheets, it is important to choose a roofing sheet that matches the durability years of the new roof and the roof slope!

4.Accessory Processing (Karakusa and Keraba)

Before the main roof construction, we will process and install accessories such as keraba and karakusa. The accessories used are the genuine accessories of Galtect, made of SGL steel plate!

The metal fittings at the ridge are made of our original galvalume steel plate, forming an integrated base for the ridge board. The durability is about 30 years, making it a highly wind-resistant ridge base.

5. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial / Super Galtect)

After processing the accessories, we will install the Galtect main body up to the ridge! After processing the accessories, we will install the Galtect main body up to the ridge! The fasteners used for the Galtect main body are stainless steel renovation screws from Aiji Industrial!

Once the installation reaches the ridge, we will install the necessary materials to secure the ridge board, known as the kanban. We offer three types of kanban: cedar, resin, and galvalume steel plate, and this time we used galvalume steel plate! The galvalume steel plate can be expected to have three times the durability compared to cedar! Unlike resin and cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!

Our original integrated waste board made of Galvalume steel for the ridge base is
highly durable, with excellent fixing power and outstanding wind resistance!
Even if rainwater seeps in from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, providinghigh waterproof performance!
It is perfect for the Super Galtect ridge base!

6. Ridge Cap Processing and Sealing at Various Locations

We will process and install the ridge cap. To enhance waterproofing, we will install a face plate on the inside of the ridge! We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. The screws used for fixing are made of rust-resistant stainless steel with waterproof packing!

Unlike nails, screws with packing are less likely to come loose and securely fix the ridge cap to the purlin!

Although it is not visible after construction,
installing a face plate on the inside of the ridge cap enhances waterproofing!
It firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical point of the roof.

7. Installation of Solar Panel Base Brackets

To install the solar panels that were stored for reuse, we will set up the base brackets! The existing base was fixed by making holes in the roof, but the new brackets are of a catch type that grips the Galtect body, securing the solar panels without making holes in the roof. This reduces the risk of leaks and the burden on the roof.

There are applicable brackets for each manufacturer and model of solar panel. There may be no applicable brackets for older solar panels.

8. Solar Panel Installation

The removed solar panels will be reinstalled to complete the job! Finally, we will also check to ensure that they are generating power properly.

9. Cleaning

After the roofing work is completed, we will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony or rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove nails and metal scraps to prevent injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to ensure it looks clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is Ai-Gi Kogyo / Super Galtect. Super Galtect comes with a 15-year paint warranty and a 25-year hole warranty from the manufacturer, along with a 10-year construction warranty from our company! Additionally, it is made of SGL steel, which is resistant to rust.

The insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal sheet that integrates the steel plate and insulation. During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.

Moreover, it has soundproofing properties, which reduce the sound of rain. Being lighter than other roofing materials, it also minimizes the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance.

It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and Super Galtect from Ai-Gi Kogyo is the most frequently used in our construction achievements and is gaining significant attention!
